Step‑by‑Step Glucose Test 📋
Step 1: Prepare Yourself
Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. Dry them completely. This helps ensure a clean blood sample and prevents contamination.
Step 2: Insert a Test Strip
Take one Swiss Point of Care test strip from the vial or pouch. Insert it into the meter’s strip port until it stops. Wait until the blood drop symbol appears on the display.
Step 3: Prepare the Lancing Device
Load a new sterile lancet into the lancing device. Adjust the depth setting if needed. Place the device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button to obtain a drop of blood.
Step 4: Apply Blood to the Test Strip
Hold the blood drop to the sample tip of the test strip. The strip will automatically draw in the blood. Ensure the check window fills completely. If the countdown does not start, you may add a second drop within 3 seconds. If still unsuccessful, discard the strip and use a new one.
Step 5: Read the Result
The meter will count down and display your blood glucose level. Results are shown in mmol/L or mg/dL depending on your settings. Symbols such as “Hypo,” “Hyper,” or “Ketone?” may appear if values are outside normal ranges.
Step 6: Dispose Safely
Use the strip ejector to remove the used test strip. Dispose of the strip and lancet safely in accordance with local regulations. Treat all blood samples as potentially infectious.
